The
CRF250R/X ManFunnel™ 2004-2008
Honda
has raised the bar with their latest addition to their line up.
The CRF250 is following in the footsteps of its big brother. Fast,
reliable, high performance and a pain in the neck to change the
oil.
The
transmission drain bolt is tucked up under the motor and recessed
a few inches. During a routine oil change draining the oil can quickly
become a messy task as the oil flows directly onto the frame rail
and all over the stand, floor or worse yet, it pools in your skid
plate.
The
CRF250 ManFunnel eliminates the mess associated with draining the
transmission. The funnel slips under the tranny drain bolt oil by
clipping onto the frame rail and extending under the drain bolt
creating a bridge between the gap of the drain hole and frame rail.
Once the drain plug is pulled, it routes used oil out and away from
the bike with out the mess.
As
with all of the ManFunnels it acts as a filling funnel to put oil
back in the bike as well. It works on both transmission and motor
fill holes.
Is
it going to add horsepower? NO. Is it going to make you faster?
NO. Will it save you time, frustration and clean-up? Oh God YES!

Filling the Oil

The
ManFunnel was designed to put an end to the oil change headache
once and for all. Never again remove the skid plate to change
your oil. The funnel is heat stabilized injection molded
plastic so it is going to last. Take a look at the following pictures
to see how it actually works. Click on any of the pictures
to enlarge them.
| Step
1: Proper Fit
After
cleaning all dirt from the bike that may prevent proper fitting.
Heat the bike per specification in owners manual. Then install
the funnel as shown. (see image 1, 2, 3 & 4)
|

A
proper fit is key to success. Insert the funnel ar a 90
degree angle to allow the frame rail guides to clear the
frame.
|

When
the back of the funnel reaches the case begin rotating clockwise
to create the seal. The Frame rail guide will align the
funnel during rotation.
|

Continue
rotation until the funnel locks into place. The first few
times you install the funnel it will be a tight fit. Take
your time to avoid damaging the funnel.
|

Once
the funnel is in place ensure that the left wall of the
funnel is flush with the case and the rear of the funnel
is seated properly around the transmission drain bolt.
|
Step
2: Drain the Transmission Oil
With your drain pan under the funnel and
remove the transmission drain bolt. Allow oil to drain completely.
|
Step
3: Install
the Transmission Drain Bolt
Reinstall drain bolt to MFG
specified torque.
|
| Step
4: Drain the Motor Oil
Drain
motor oil per MFG specifications. The ManFunnel will not aid
in this process.
|
Step
5: Install
the Motor Oil Drain Bolt
Reinstall drain bolt to MFG
specified torque.
|
Step
6: Fill With Oil
Use the ManFunnel to fill the
transmission and motor oil. Insert the ManFunnel into the
fill hole. Pour in your new oil as per specified by your manual
for both type and amount. By using the funnel for filling
you reduce the risk of knocking dirt and or debris into the
fill hole with your oil and it is much easier and cleaner
than pouring from a bottle or ratio cup. |
